About Me:
I'm a student at ITT for graphic design, however, my passion is in web design. I've been teaching myself HTML, CSS, Java, and minor pieces of other languages since i was ten. About a year and a half ago I became very interested in Flash and even more so in Flex. I can't afford the software being a 21 year old trying to run his own web design company and taking care of 3 on money I get from a GI Bill and getting additional training is difficult. I've been volunteering as much as possible in Portland with companies like ACM SIGGRAPH and Design PDX. But I'm looking for opportunities to learn. I would love to find work but I'm more interested in learning Flex (Flash Builder 4) and my resources are next to none financially. So, that's pretty much why I'm here. If anybody has ideas, connections, suggestions, that's all I'm looking for and I will treat any opportunity as a major one.
About My Flex interests:
First of all, I've always loved writing code. I'm not highly experienced with any form of code. I'm self taught on everything. I'm looking to begin my BAS in Web Development in the fall. Actionscript has been extremely fun, but I feel that the capabilities that I've learned about with Flex have me most impressed and that's where I want to apply any AS3 skills that I may acquire. I enjoy the Flex environment, I enjoy how it works with information and databasing (though this is a HUGE part of what I need to learn) and I think that it's a great way to do cross platform products for clients in a means that I can enjoy and have fun with. Flash is great, but despite my graphic design experience, graphics are just not where I belong. I learned this all too late.
